Bridal Beauty Prep in Kansas City: The Ultimate Aesthetic Treatment Guide

a kansas city bride looking over her shoulder

Congratulations! You’re a bride!

You're engaged, starting to plan your big day, but also starting to think about your skin and appearance on your big day.

Your wedding day is one to remember, and we want you to feel like the most refreshed, confident version of yourself.  We see Kansas City brides for beauty consultations all of the time, and there is often a request for a timeline of what aesthetic treatments to have done before your wedding day.

At Horizon Med Spa and Wellness in Kansas City, it is important to us that we are able to create a comprehensive plan to reach both your aesthetic and wellness goals before your wedding day. The first step is always to meet with a provider regarding your concerns.

Facials and Skin Prep: 6–12 Months Before the Wedding

Your skin is the easiest place to start after a consultation to prepare for your wedding day in Kansas City. You're the bride, and we want you to be the most confident and glowing version of yourself!

HydraFacial for clear, glowing skin

We recommend that brides start their wedding prep with a HydraFacial with one of our estheticians. A HydraFacial is an advanced technology that cleans the skin out, exfoliates, and infuses serums and antioxidants back in. This time allows our providers to look deeper at the skin and analyze your next steps.

Facials are a great option to do consistently throughout the entire process of preparing for your wedding. This will help keep the pores cleaned out, give you a natural glow, and keep up any other results from other beauty treatments you may have completed during your wedding prep.

Dermaplaning for smooth makeup application

I often have brides do a HydraFacial even a few days before a wedding, we add a dermaplane on too! This will help your makeup application go on smoother on your wedding day and that vellus hair will be gone for your wedding pictures!

At-home skincare essentials for brides

I also preach the importance of good skin care for brides. This is when I confirm with brides that they should be using retinol, daily sunscreen use, and Vitamin C regularly, especially when prepping for their wedding. Depending on your age we may talk about the use of certain eye creams, neck creams, collagen stimulators, and more!

Injectables: 4–6 Weeks Out (6 Months Is Ideal)

Injectables can mean many different things. At Horizon Med Spa in Kansas City, we offer treatments like filler, neurotoxins, PRF, and biostimulators.

Neurotoxins for smoothing fine lines

Our most common injectable treatment for brides is a neurotoxin treatment (dysport, botox, daxxify, etc). A neurotoxin like dysport is an amazing tool to use to smooth out places on the face caused by muscle movement so you look and feel like your best self on your wedding day. We use neurotoxins to smooth horizontal lines on the forehead, “eleven lines” in the glabella, and crows feet. We recommend starting your wedding beauty prep ahead of time to make sure we get it just the way you like it, and then do another neurotoxin treatment about a month before your wedding for a refresh.

Filler for natural enhancement

Filler can be used by brides to enhance your features and balance out your face before your wedding day. It is often used in places like the lips, cheeks, and chin and our injectors can help you come up with a treatment plan during a bridal consultation. Filler will give the skin a natural refreshed look, and maybe a little lip plump too!

Sculptra and PRF for gradual collagen restoration

Sculptra is a biostimulator which is best for brides to do earlier in the wedding planning process because it provides a gradual result. Sculptra is used to stimulate your own collagen and restore areas of hollowness, for example, in the temples!

PRF is also something that can be used to restore youthfulness, especially in the under eyes, during the bridal beauty prep process. During the Platelet Rich Fibrin process, we take your own blood, spin it, and inject the fibrin into the under eyes for new collagen to grow.

Bridal beauty treatments like PRF and Sculptra take a bit longer to see results, which is why our injectors often recommend starting them sooner rather than later!

Lasers and Medical Aesthetic Treatments: 6–8 Months Out (or at Least 6 Weeks)

Chemical peels, IPL’s, microneedling, and resurfacing treatments are all options we offer here at Horizon Med Spa in Kansas City. These types of treatments are ideal for changing the skin's quality prior to your wedding day.

IPL for sun damage and pigmentation

IPL is an amazing option for brides looking to get rid of brown pigment and sun damage, as well as redness and broken capillaries in the face, neck, or chest. You can even use IPL on areas of the body if you have undesired pigment that may show in your wedding dress.

VI Peel for texture and melasma

Chemical peels (specifically VI Peel) are awesome bridal beauty treatments for pigment concerns like melasma, texture, and skin quality. I often combine IPL and VI Peels as a stackable treatment for brides to reach their results sooner.

Microneedling with SkinPen vs. Morpheus8

At Horizon, we offer two different kinds of microneedling. We offer SkinPen, which is great for brides looking to address texture, pore size, scarring, and fine lines. This is perfect for brides in the age range of 20-30’s who aren't as concerned about laxity and loose skin prior to their wedding day.

Morpheus8 is another type of microneedling that is an amazing option for brides treating loose skin, joweling, and aging concerns. Morpheus8 uses radio frequency energy to tighten and stimulate new collagen. We also have resurfacing options for brides that address additional textural concerns that may need a more aggressive treatment than something like SkinPen.

This is why bridal beauty consultations are crucial for us to decide what would work best for your skin before your wedding day.

Wellness Options: Customized to Your Goals

Horizon Wellness offers a wide range of wellness options for both brides and grooms preparing to feeling like their best self on their wedding day.

Medical weight loss with GLP-1s

We offer GLP-1s as part of our medical weight loss program designed for brides who want to look and feel radiant when they walk down the aisle. These treatments help gently curb appetite and support steady weight loss, making it easier to slip into your dream dress with confidence.

At Horizon MedSpa, we use a microdosing approach that allows us to customize your pre-wedding weight loss plan, minimize side effects, and keep your results natural and sustainable before your wedding day. Paired with lifestyle and nutrition support, GLP-1 therapy gives brides the confidence of knowing they’ll feel their healthiest, most glowing selves on their wedding day and beyond.

Hormone and cortisol testing for optimal balance

We also offer advanced cortisol and hormone testing for brides who want to feel balanced and energized throughout their wedding journey. This is especially valuable for the more mature bride who may be experiencing hormonal shifts that impact mood, energy, skin, and weight. By identifying and addressing imbalances early, we can create a personalized plan to help you feel centered, vibrant, and confident as you step into your big day.
